I will admit, the only reason I began reading Beautiful Creatures because of the awesome movie trailer. Once I began I was immediately taken with the book. I first was surprised that the story was told in the perspective of the male main character Ethan. This was surprising to me, just cause I assumed it would be told in the perspective of the main female character Lena. However, I enjoyed the story being told through Ethan and liked him as a person a lot.
The world Garcia and Stohl created was perfect. The small southern town still stuck in the past and the magical caster world. I really loved to mix of the old and new. Especially, with the 1800's flashbacks!
My only complaint is that I thought I would be MORE invested with this book, but I think this sometimes happens when there is a lot of hype about a book. With that being said, I feel I have a new series obsession.
